Thank you all for supporting ALA Laurel Girls State this year. You got the word out and young ladies are responding! The committee is still blazing ahead as we make final preparations and notify delegates with welcome packets.
As you know, typically a unit (or post) sponsors a student(s) to attend. Currently, there are some applicants that do not have sponsors as of yet and YOU could be the key. If you, your unit or someone you know can help, even with a $10 donation, please contact Karen in the office.
Collectively, we can sponsor an applicant.
Alternatively, we still have some items on our Amazon wish list. Please visit the department website under ALA LGS to access it. We have received some questions about unit members visiting the program. Yes, ALA member visits are welcome. We ask that you contact us at least 24 hours in advance so we may prepare for your arrival. The best way to connect remains the [email protected] email address.
We, the committee, are looking forward to a wonderful session where young ladies (in conjunction with TAL Conn. Boys State) elevate their civic understanding through deepening their knowledge base of how government works and leave feeling prepared and excited to engage in the system where their voice matters.
